It might be time to clear your schedule because Path of Exile 2 is about to get a big shake-up. Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that the 0.4.0 update, called The Last of the Druids, is finally rolling out the long-awaited Druid class. Fans have been waiting ages for this one, and now the countdown’s on. GGG will spill all the details in their livestream on December 4 at 11 AM PST — that’s 7 PM GMT or 8 PM CET if you’re in Europe. The patch goes live on December 12, so you won’t be waiting long to dive in. And here’s a nice bonus: a free weekend kicks off the same day. From December 12 to December 15, PC and console players can jump in and play without spending a dime, a perfect chance to try the game out or dust off your old builds with a stash full of PoE 2 Items .


The Druid is the real headline here. It’s only the second new class added since early access launched back on December 6, 2023. The Huntress showed up in patch 0.2.0 and brought a fast, agile playstyle. Meanwhile, 0.3.0 was more about systems; it overhauled Support gems, opened up Act 4, and even teased Act 5 for a short time. Players have been asking for the Druid since GGG first teased it, though it got bumped from 0.3.0 to make sure it was ready. The extra time might’ve meant a longer wait, but most people seem happy to hold out for something that feels polished rather than rushed.


Of course, when you delay a hyped feature, the rumour mill starts turning. Some folks think GGG might sneak an extra class into 0.4.0 as a surprise. Sounds great in theory, but it feels unlikely. Building one class from scratch — with its own skill sets, animations, gear interactions — is already a ton of work. Most signs point to the team focusing hard on making the Druid hit the mark. Still, GGG loves throwing in smaller surprises with these updates, so there’s always a bit of mystery heading into a reveal stream.


Outside of the Druid details, there’s still a lot we don’t know. Players are guessing about new weapon types, and swords seem to be a popular wish right now. Others hope for more tweaks to existing systems or maybe another act tease. The December 4 livestream should clear things up, but honestly, the free weekend right after gives everyone the perfect way to see it all first-hand.
